Background

BARYA abbreviated “ Banadir Regional Youth Association” is governmental Association focusing on awareness and development for all youth in Benadir  Region. The Association has been established on 20th May 2014 after demand by Benadir Governor to form Benadir owned youth association.

The Association focuses on youth employment, peace building, human rights and education development through training and strengthening the youth skills in Mogadishu. BARYA promotes youth transformation manner from engagement in terror and violent activities to participation in rebuilding the country. BARYA is working in line with the BRA strategic plan as a regional level and Ministry of Youth and Sport as a National Level.

BARYA struggles to speed up the youth led change initiatives that is believed to contribute the state rebuilding efforts both regional and national levels. BARYA encourages peaceful manner as a means of any political gain instead killing to come to power. BARYA stands to be a role model for the rest of youth by socializing them with its goals and objectives.

The youth livelihood status in Mogadishu still remain shocked especially the unemployment which remains a alarming at the UN and International Agencies’’ debate. Somali youth are roughly estimated 60-65% in the Somali whole population that represents a huge sector of the population. BARYA prioritizes to work towards reduction of youth unemployment through collaboration with livelihood and employment generation support institutions by conducting baseline study of market labor to equip youth with the local market skills.

BARYA structurally has a chair-man and vice chair-man who are responsible for the running of all BARYA’s operation and working closely with their team. BARYA has also a program Head who manages the daily routine work and reports to the vice and chairman. The rest of the team undertake their sector based duty under directing and supervising by the program head.
